Best Day in FIVE Years!

Abby had some much needed surgery last Monday in Birmingham, AL.  When I say 'much needed' this is not an embellishment or magnification, Abby has hurt for many years due to reflux.  It is much more severe then that occasional spicy meal.  It was bad enough to cause her to stop eating by mouth (going on 7 years now).

So why was it the best day in 5 years with Abby?   There was no biting, moaning, fussing, and NO HURTING for my girl.  I really don't have words to say that describes watching her hurt or the process of a continual surrender of her to the Lord or my gratefulness of a new beginning for her.

In Preparation of Celebration!!

Josiah turns 5 tomorrow.  So tonight we prepared 'treasure' cupcakes (see the Cupcake Doctor).

Who will we teach our children to worship?

"It is imperative to be clear on this issue.  Parenting is not just providing good input.  It is not just creating a constructive home atmosphere and positive interaction between a child and his parent.  There is a another dimension.  The child is interacting with the living God.  He is either worshipping and serving and growing in understanding of the implication of who God is or he is seeking to make sense of life without a relationship with God.
If he is living as a fool who says in his heart there is not God, he doesn't cease to be a worshipper - he simply worships what is not God.  Part of the parent's task is to shepherd him as a creature who worships, pointing him to the One who alone is worthy of his worship.  The questions is not 'will he worship?'  It is always 'whom will he worship?'"

Galaga

We are sitting in the Hospital as Abby recovers from her surgery.  Patty and I are taking turns having a break.  I went to children's harbor (rec center for the families at Children's Hosp), and what did I find? My all time favorite arcade game.  I think it is because my dad liked it so much.  I played it for about an hour without stopping.
- High Score: 1,001,400 (it only goes up to 1,000,000 then rolls over)
- Level: 117
- Cost: Free, if I paid at a quarter a turn-approx $15.00

I am officially looking for a used Galaga game for a cheap price.

Emergency Dessert!!

Tonight we did not have any ice cream or Breyers as we fondly call it.  What should we do?  It is Saturday night, we are tired, the kids are in bed, we each have good books.....ahhhhhh.  Until I stumbled upon, Nutella Mug Cake.  Did we have the right ingredients?  Could I keep it a secret from Patty?

Answer:  All ingredients except whip cream, I did keep it a secret but she was suspicious.

(14) The Jesus Storybook Bible: The Story and The Song

Final Analysis by Josiah (age 4): I like it that everyone in this bible loves God!  I like everything in this story.  I don't like their bikes.  Do you know why?  Because they do not have training wheels.

My father found out two months ago he has cancer.  It has invaded his pancreas, small intestines, etc.  He has lost a total of 51 lbs!! He is a strong man of high integrity, great father to me and connie, husband to my mom and fun papa.  Josiah prays for him every night.   He has a caring bridge site at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/samhull2011

Irene Sendler

Through I have never met her, she has impacted my life.  This woman saved over 2500 children from the warsaw ghetto.  She put small children in the bottom of her tool box and the larger ones in her backpack.  Yes, 2500!

A baby from the 1940s might have married and had children, grandchildren, even great-grandchildren.  With a birthrate average of 2.6 in hte 1950's, 2.3 in the 1970's and 2.1 in the 1990's, it is possible that each child saved in turn saved 20 lives.  This one woman as of this year could have saved 50,000 people and over 100,000 by next generation!

Her efforts resulted in a severe beating and her legs being broken by the Nazi's!  Ironically she was up for the Nobel Peace Prize the same year Al Gore won!
